PRE-BAPTISM PREPARATION

Along with our neighboring parishes, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel offers a Pre-Baptism class for new or expectant parents. We offer this class as a two-hour session, quarterly. We look to people who can relate to parents of very young babies or are at ease speaking to groups about their own commitment to Christian family life. If you have any interest, we can train you.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN

During 10am Mass, before the scripture reading begins, pre-school children are dismissed to listen to a reading of the Word—written just for them. A children’s homily will follow, along with an appropriate activity. Children rejoin their families in the Church to join in the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

SUNDAY PRESCHOOL

This program is held during 10am Mass from September through April for children 3, 4, and 5 years old. It lasts for approximately 1 hour. It is religion based and teaches children about God and the world around them.

PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION

Religious Educations classes for children 1st through 8th grade is held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8pm. If you would like to share (PSR) your faith by teaching these age groups, training is available. If you are interested in helping, but teaching is not for you, you can assist as a teacher’s aide. Your presence as an extra set of hands can be of great help.

FIRST RECONCILIATION

First Reconciliation (Penance) is celebrated by our children on a Saturday as scheduled in preparation for First Communion. Parents must assume the major responsibility for preparation of their children to receive the sacrament. Instructional materials are provided at a mandatory meeting in the fall.

FIRST EUCHARIST

First Eucharist is celebrated by our children at a group First Communion on the first Sunday in May. Parents must assume the major responsibility for the preparation of their children to receive the sacrament. Instruction materials are presented at a mandatory meeting each fall.

8th GRADE CONFIRMATION PROGRAM

Students preparing for Confirmation attend additional preparation sessions outside of regular religious education classes. Parents must assume the major responsibility for the preparation of their children to receive the sacrament. Instruction materials are presented at a mandatory meeting each fall.

RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the faith-based program by which those over 18 are invited into full communion with the Catholic Church or conversion into the Catholic faith. The sessions begin in October and end in May. If you are an adult who has not made all of their sacraments or wish to convert to Catholicism, this program is for you.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION

Various programs are offered from September to June on Saturday Mornings after 8:30am Mass. Everyone is invited, no prior registration required. Watch the Bulletin for details.

LIFE-TEEN (High School Youth Group)

All high school students are invited to join in conjunction with Immaculate Conception for weekly gatherings on Sunday nights at 5:30pm at Mt. Carmel Church.
